We just finally got a Blu-Ray Disk Player, which we've had on the "when the price goes down enough" list for about 3 years. We already had the BD version of Avatar, and picked up Invictus in the BD along with the player.

During previews for one of these was something about the remake of Ice Castles - you know, the soppy story about the figure skater who concusses against the ice and goes blind. And, as soon as they started going through the scenes, the earworm song from the original came to mind.

Or, more accurately, rather spectacularly didn't. Instead of the earworm itself, a great void came into my mind that insisted upon being the focus of my attention. While I remembered there was a song, and remembered it was a bit of an earworm (and also of the usual quality of the "love themes" of that era), I could not for the life of me remember the song. That didn't matter, because the brain reacted in the usual earworm fashion, just without a real song behind it. I couldn't keep any other song in my head, nor really focus on music of any kind, just the songless emptiness.

Then [livejournal.com profile] ladyat helpfully(?) researched the name of the song on Teh Tubez, and I was rescued from the situation. Well, I had the real earworm, but at least there was something to fight against as opposed to the eldritch nothingness...

For those of you who also don't remember, the song was "Through the Eyes of Love".
