Even though I gave up on them entirely in the second quarter and went to the garage to finish installing the new garage door opener, the Dolts pulled one out and are finally going to the Super Bowl. The opener was working in time for me to see the last of the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter. I did about a dozen victory laps around the coffee table (to the bemusement of the dogs) when the final interception sealed the game.

I left a phone message for my dad, who will have to make a very tough decision on whether he will cheer for his Bears or the Colts. Good thing he is in Florida, which is at least somewhat neutral territory.

I used to always watch the Super Bowl (yes, the game, not just the commercials!) and either hosted or attended a gathering on that evening. However, since 9/11 when they moved it out a week, it has conflicted with the UK Filk Con, so I haven't really bothered.

This year, I'll be attempting to bother. Interestingly enough, the last time the con was in Basingstoke was the time the Sunday Night filk shared the hotel bar with the Super Bowl watchers. One hopes the hotel will be able to get the game in the bar again (my understanding is that the concom, remembering the last time, has gotten another room for the Sunday Night filk).

It should be interesting. The NFL's most porous defense against the Good Rex / Bad Rex offense of Da Bears.
