The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra
Jul. 27th, 2006 09:20 amBack at the 2004 Boskone or WorldCon (I can't quite remember which, though I think it was Boskone) there was this really interesting exhibit of ... well, call it schlock movie paraphernalia purporting to be from a 50's movie called The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. OK, it was obvious this wasn't a real bad 50's movie, but the folks involved with the spoof/homage had gone to great lengths to create all the standard give-aways and promo pieces one would have expected from a movie of that type.
Last night, at daughter K's Hollywood Video store, we found a copy of the movie itself.
It is marvelously and hilariously bad - on purpose, of course. There are a few things I would have liked to have been done better, mainly costumes/hair styles and the dialog (which was a little too ad-lib and allowed a lot of modern idiom as well as failing to sound quite as blissfully stilted as they were going for - since one of the characters seemed to have been scripted to speak that way on purpose it rather spoiled the disconnect). On the whole, however, it was a very enjoyable way to spend a mindless evening.
And there's Animala. Rowr.
